Banner Making Machine at Schiphol Airport

Banner Making Machine at Schiphol Airport

I think the arrivals area at the airport is one of the happiest places in the world. But the one at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, just made me even happier.

I discovered their banner-making machine. This red machine lets you create your own welcome home banners in three different styles and sizes. You can upload your own photo, then pick your preferred size (small , medium or large), pick your style and wait for your own creation to be printed. No more fiddling around with old bed sheets and buckets of paint. This looks way more professional.

The first machine was installed in 2011 and it has proofed to be a huge success. Apparently these bad boys are churning out 50 banners a day.

Banner Making Machine at Schiphol Airport

I was dying to try one out, but felt a bit silly as it was me arriving at Schiphol at this instance and didn't want to make one that said: Welcome Home, Jaklien!!! for myself.

I just can't wait for Heathrow, Gatwick or London City airports to install them here in London. I will be the first one in line. Guaranteed. And at least my friends will stop complaining that I never pick them up from the airport.

  2. How much does one cost to make?

Either way, it's a cool thing. With a bit of creativity, one can make something really unique out of template based printout.
