A Swedish Bakery in London

A Swedish Bakery in London

The Swedes are really good at making furniture, writing crime novels and, as I discovered on a lunch break, baking. Hidden in a narrow alley in the heart of Covent Garden, I happened on Bageriet yesterday: a bright and cheery Swedish bakery. A nice and quiet find, in spite of it being in a highly touristy area.

Cosy Bageriet looks like what I expect all bakeries in Sweden look like: kitted out with IKEA style furniture, Swedish ABBA-esque music playing in the background and lots of pastries on display in the window and the counter.

The bakery is a lovely spot to pop in for breakfast or lunch. There are lots of breakfast options and they also serve freshly made sandwiches and salads. You can buy loaves of bread, rolls, biscuits and even custom made cakes. Additionally there are so many eye-pleasing pastries to choose from that you might find it hard to limit your choice to one. It's hard to ignore the display of vanilla hearts, cakes called Josefin, sugar pretzels, hallongrotta (raspberry caves) and lots lots more.

It took me a while to make a choice, but I finally opted for a delicious kanellbullar (cinnamon roll) which I enjoyed with a hot cup of rhubarb and cream flavoured tea. And the other pastries? Well, I will just have to go back and try those as well.
