I do love my independent coffeeshops, and do get extremely excited when I discover new ones. Last week after having lunch in Primrose Hill and browsing the shops on Regent's Park Road, my friend and I treated ourselves to a cuppa fresh mint tea at Tann Roka. This tiny coffee shop belongs to an antique shop across the road that bears the same unusual name. (It apparently is Romany for ''House Talk'') Not to mention sells unusual objets d'art and stylish retro furniture.
Calling it a coffee shed would probably suit this place better as it looks very much like my dad's garden shed at the house I grew up in. It's literally a wooden shed with lots of garden ornaments, plants, flowers and potted herbs and pebbles strewn across the floor. There are a couple of seats in the coffee shed, but there are plenty of tables and chairs out back in the utterly adorable and leafy garden.
They serve freshly roasted coffee, a variety of teas and infusions and a range of yummie cakes and sandwiches, but also fresh juices and smoothies.
Now seriously, you don't get settings like this at Starbucks or Nero's. Now do you?
