Sky Garden at the Walkie Talkie

London is way up there on the list of cities with green spaces. And now it even has one in the sky. The top floor of the building that Londoners have come to know as the Walkie Talkie has a sky garden.

With all things new and a bit quirky, it attracts visitors like flies. So even though entrance to the Sky Garden in the Walkie Talkie is free of charge, you need to get tickets to get up there. When I tried to book in January, there weren't any tickets left till March. The only other way to get up there was to book a table at one of the restaurants or bar. My friend and I went for breakfast at the Sky Pod Bar.

The venue is in one word fabulous. It's a vary airy atrium with an amazing view of London all round. The Sky Pod Bar is situated facing the south side of the city with a great view of the Shard across the river. The bar is flanked by indoor grassy lawns lined by trees and shrubs of different kinds and steps that lead to the Seafood Bar and Grill restaurant and the north side of the top floor. You can walk around and get a 360 view of the entire city.

Breakfast at Sky Pod Bar was slightly disappointing. I was really looking forward to some bacon and eggs, but what we found was slightly more upmarket version of Pret albeit with a slower service. There was a choice of muffins and croissants and porridge or muesli in plastic bowls. Having said that you'd be hard pressed to find a Pret with a better view, that's for sure. They're also open for lunch, dinner and drinks and the cocktail list looks very promising.

Check it out for yourself on the Sky Garden's website. Although it's well worth checking it out in real life.

  1. I'm interested to see the view but I've heard not the best things about the food.

    1. The food we had was just like a Pret. Not sure about the restaurants though.
