Review of Jamie's Italian

If you ask me what my favourite food is, it would have to be Italian. I can eat that stuff morning, noon and night. Every morning, noon and night too if I had to. So when I was invited to come and review Jamie's Italian, needless to say I was pretty chuffed.

I picked the one in Piccadilly, because of its super central and convenient location. It looks like a traditional English pub from the outside, but inside you've got that homey Jamie theme going on. I didn't get a proper good look at the upper part of the restaurant, as I was whisked down to the basement by the hostess, but apparently there are five levels and there is even a roof terrace to enjoy al fresco drinks, English weather permitting.

Our table was located in what looked like a private room, which we ended up sharing with a large group of military men. Nothing wrong with that. The walls were wood panelled and I loved the colourful upholstered chairs and wooden table combo.

We started off with a bottle of fruity montepulciano wine, which went down way too fast. Everything on the menu sounded fine, and it took a while to make up our minds.

I kicked off with a tomato and ricotta bruschetta, topped with fragrantly fresh basil leaves. My main was a fine papardelle with fennel sausage meat and a side salad of tomatoes and juicy mozzarella balls. My friend went for the steak frites with some amazingly crispy fries. She let me taste a bite of the meat and it was divine.

Review of Jamie's Italian

We had no room for dessert, but plenty of room for another bottle of montepulciano, which we polished off nice and slow.

  1. I love Italian food but have never tried Jamie's Italian. It has always struck me as being a bit pretentious but maybe that's just me projecting my feelings towards Jamie Oliver on his chain. Might have give it a go!

    1. I think when it comes to chains, this one is one of the good ones. I didn't think it was all that pretentious to be honest.

  3. I love Italian food, it's actually what I craved as a crazed pregnant woman, unfortunately I haven't been to a Jamie's Italian restaurant. My sister dines at the one in Oxford and she loves it. It is on my list to go to even more now!
