Art Deco Tour with London Unravelled

Art Deco might bring to mind images of pastel buildings in sun drenched South Beach or NYC skyscrapers rising up into the clouds, but if you look up now and again here in dreary London, you might find some real gems as well. Even more so after today, as I went on one of Yannick's London Unravelled Art Deco walking tours.

Yannick is a London Expat from Luxembourg who runs his own London walking tour company. I'd seen several tweets and blog posts raving about his tours, so I was dying to try one myself. So the Art Deco in Bloomsbury tour it was.

We met up in the middle of Russel Square, in the heart of Bloomsbury where he started the tour by giving us a short intro in the Art Deco style. I won't try to repeat it all as I am not quite the expert as Yannick is.

We meandered around the streets taking in buildings such as Russell Court, a parking garage turned marketing agency, the Brunswick building (not technically art deco, but still worth a mention on an architecture tour), and various residential and university buildings.

Yannick offers an Art Deco tour around the Strand as well and if this is not really your thing, then you might want to check out his 'Macaroons and Mews' or the 'Piccadilly & Petits Fours'. I know I will.
