The name Hogar Dulce Hogar means Home Sweet Home and homey this place does feel. It's one of those places where you can hang out all day and not feel like the staff wants you to leave after you've finished your coffee. We weren't very lucky weatherwise so we happily snuggled up on the Chesterfield couch by the roaring fire place. The rest of the room has that living room kind of feel to it. There's a stack of wooden logs in one corner and a large bookcase in another. The case is stacked with lots of reading material to choose from. If you think books are so last century, you can play with one of the two IPads that are available for guests. You can even watch a bit of telly from the comfort of the couch.
Outside there's a large terrace, great for al fresco get-togethers. And if the Basque weather isn't doing what you want it to be doing, there are comfy blankets to keep you warm. The terrace has plenty of seating and it's lined with raised plant beds with homegrown veggies and herbs.
We could have stayed here all morning and afternoon, but the rest of San Sebastián was beckoning us to be explored. But the next morning we returned for more.
Hogar Dulce Hogar is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For more information, click here.
