If I had to choose between all the cuisines of the world, I would definitely go for Italian food.So when Zomato asked me to review Pulia at Borough Market, I didn't need to think twice.
Pulia is an Italian deli with a couple of sites across Italy and it opened its first deli here in London on Stoney Street in Borough Market last February. They specialise in food from the Puglia region (hence the name) and all the ingredients and base materials are carefully selected from local producers.
I went on a late Sunday afternoon and it was fairly quiet. Great for taking decor shots! I loved the airy and bright feel of Pulia which makes a dark and rainy London evening feel a bit cheerier.
While I was waiting for my friend to arrive, I sipped on a glass of Bombino wine. It had a lovely crisp and apple-ly taste. It went very well with the aubergine pate and crostini bread I ordered as well.
Since it was a bit late for lunch, but too early for dinner, we decided to go for a sharing platter. It was a very generous sharing platter, which was draped with thinly sliced cured hams, mini mozzarella balls, crumbly wedges of podolico cheese and olive focaccias.
The owner, who came out to say hello, suggested to dip to burrata in a bit of ginger infused oil and pinch of salt and pepper. He obviously knew what he was talking about, as that tasted absolutely divine.
We ended our nibble session with another glass of the bombino and a trio of pasticciotto. They were served with creme and a small jar of ginger infused olive oil, which may sound weird, but it was a winning combo with the creme filled pasticciotto.
Looks delicious
