England is full of pretty, little villages and one such village is Hambleden near Henley. In fact this one village is so pretty, that it has been the backdrop for many a blockbuster movie or TV-show. You might recognise it from Sleep Hollow starring Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci, or maybe from the HBO mini series Band of Brothers with Tom Hanks.
Famous movie star or not, Hambleden is a lovely place to walk to from say Henley, a town slightly bigger, but no less a looker.
Last weekend I did exactly that. We started from the riverside in Henley and made our way towards Hambleden along the Thames Path, where we were treated to continuous picturesque views.
We diverted to have a gander at St Mary's Church which lies just off the path. We then backtracked to the Thames Path and kept walking along it till we go to a lock and weir. We passed many rowers, pleasure boats and dogs cheerily jumping into the river.
By lunch time we reached Hambleden, just in time for a pub lunch at The Stag and Huntsmen, the only pub in town really.
I walked around the cute town centre taking pictures and soaking up the peace and quiet, before heading back to Henley-on-Thames.Where we finished our day with some well deserved pints in a local pub.
It looks so beautiful. Perfect place for a family day out.
